General FAQs

What is iSupportSports?

iSupportSports is an online platform that allows you to raise money quickly and securely by connecting with your fans and supporters.

How does iSupportSports work?

Teams, charities, or individuals create pages using the iSS platform.  Each page is customized with a video, pictures, and perks that tell the story of the fundraiser.  The page is then shared across the Internet through social media, email, and embedded links.  Money is collected directly through the online platform and released to the fundraiser at the completion of the campaign.

What is a campaign page?

A campaign page is the home of your funding campaign. Your page includes your campaign pitch video and any ongoing updates and pictures you want to share with your contributors and fans. Your campaign page is where people make contributions, share comments, and pick up widgets to share the campaign.

Who owns the rights to my campaign or idea?

You keep 100% ownership of all the ideas included in your campaign.

Are contributions Tax Deductible?

If the campaign has 501c-3 nonprofit status or has fiscal sponsorship, the contribution can be tax-deductible if funds are disbursed via PayPal directly to the tax exempt organization. Contributors should contact the non-profit or fiscal sponsorship organization directly for instructions on getting a receipt for tax purposes, and consult their tax advisers about how to deduct.

When do I receive my funds?

When a contribution is made, funds will be sent directly to your PayPal account.  There may be a short processing period.  Check PayPal to see the status of your funds.

Creating Campaign

How do I create a campaign?

Once you have created a profile, click the “Start Your Campaign” button on the homepage.  Under the "Create" tab you will be guided through the step-by-step process of creating a campaign.  Fill in your information, upload pitch video and images, customize your perks and get ready to launch.  A valid PayPal account is required to start a campaign.

Who can create campaigns?

iSupportSports was originally created to help teams, individuals, charities, and sport related businesses raise funds.  However, anyone can create a campaign on iSupportSports.  Whether your campaign is sports related or not, our platform can help you raise funds for your passion.  So whatever idea, product, business, club or cause you are trying to raise funds for, feel free to start a campaign.

How long can a campaign last?

Campaigns can last a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 120 days.

What do I need to create a campaign?

To create a campaign, you will need a pitch video or image, a set fundraising goal, a description about your campaign and a valid PayPal account.  Perks are optional, but highly recommended.

What are perks?

Perks are non-monetary gifts that can be exchanged for different levels of contribution Perks allow you to engage fans, build trust, and get more people involved. You can be as creative as you want with perk offerings.  See examples in our blog.

Can I make changes to my campaign?

Yes! You can change all components of your campaign except your funding goal and deadline.  Also, you cannot change perks that have already been redeemed, but you can add new perks or delete un-redeemed perks.

Can I have more than one campaign?

Yes, you can have multiple and simultaneous campaigns under one account.

What do I include in my pitch?

This is your time to tell the world your story.  First impressions are important.  Create a video that explains who you are, what you need, when you need it, and why.  Be honest and genuine.  Donors like to know more about you before they give you their hard earned money. Check our blog for additional tips on creating a succesful campaign.

How do I get my campaign on iSupportSports’ homepage, in the blog, or featured in the press?

Campaigns are featured based on the amount of activity on your page.  The more you update, share, and collect donations on your campaign, the better chance of getting featured on our homepage.  The more effort you are willing to put into your campaign, the more we are willing to help out on our end.   All campaigns can potentially be featured in a blog post or in the press once they are launched on iSupportSports.

What if I don't meet my funding goal?

No worries, you still get to keep the money you have raised if your goal is unmet.  Check our blog for tips that can help make your campaigns successful in the future.

Can I contact my contributors directly?

Yes!  On your campaign page, go to the "Updates" tab. You can make a text or video announcement, or attach a document. All updates are automatically sent to your contributors via email. The use of Updates contributes to your page activity and increases your chances of becoming a featured page.

How do I get feedback from contributors or fans about my campaign?

Contributors and fans can provide feedback on the "Comments" tab of your funding campaign. To encourage comments and discussion, you can direct people there in your pitch or on your campaign profile. The use of Comments contributes to your page activity and increase your chances of becoming a featured page..

How do I share my campaign?

In your campaign Dashboard, you can share your campaign in a few different ways.  Click the "Share" tab and share your campaign with your Facebook friends.  Click the "Widgets" tab and you can embed the code in emails and web pages.  You can also share your campaign with the tools in the share box on your campaign page, directly below the pitch image or video. The use of share tools contributes to your page activity and increases your chances of becoming a featured campaign.

What is an individual profile?

Each campaign administrator or team member will be asked to create a individual profile. This profile can include a picture and information about you. Your profile will also highlight which campaigns you have created or funded. Your individual profile will help potential funders get to know you better.

How do I know when I have started fundraising?

In the final step of creating your campaign you will come to the "Launch" button.  Once you click "Launch" your campaign will be submitted for review.  Campaigns are reviewed daily and your campaign will be live promptly when approved.  Once your campaign is live, you have started fundraising.  It's time to start sharing your campaign!

How do I collect money for my campaign?

Creating a campaign requires a PayPal account for which all payments will be collected.  As soon as contributors donate to your campaign, the money will be sent to your PayPal account.  Contributors can pay through their PayPal account or with a credit card as a guest on PayPal.

Where can I check the status of my funds?

When a contribution is made, funds will be sent directly to your PayPal account.  Check PayPal for the status of your funds.

What if my campaign ends and I want to continue fundraising?

If you want to continue raising money, you will have to create a new campaign.  You can also contact support@isupportsports.com with questions about reactivating your campaign.

What happens if my campaign reaches its funding goal before its deadline?

You are doing great!  Keep raising additional funds until you reach the deadline.

Can people contribute anonymously?

Yes, contributors can choose to make their name and/or amount of the contribution anonymous.  However, this will only make the donation anonymous to the public.  The contributor's information will still be available privately to the campaign creator.

How do I keep track of my contributors and the fulfillment of Perks?

If you are a campaign creator offering perks, you can view claimed perks under the "Donation" tab of your Dashboard page.  The "Donation" tab will give you the contributors contact information and let you know which perk, if any, was claimed.  You are responsible for getting the perk to the individual in a reasonable amount of time.  You can also manage the availability of perks under the "Perk" tab on your Dashboard.

Contributing to Campaigns

How do I contribute to a campaign?

You can contribute to a campaign by clicking the "Support this Project" on the campaign's page.  Follow the steps to select an optional perk, enter your contribution amount, and choose your payment method (PayPal or credit card).  Credit card payments can be made through PayPal when you sign in as a guest (no sign-up required).  You can also choose to make your name and donation amount anonymous when you contribute.

How much information do I share when making a contribution?

When you contribute to a campaign your name and donation amount will be made public on the campaign page under the "Backers" tab unless you have selected the option to make it anonymous.  However, selecting "anonymous" does not hide your information from the campaign creator.  The campaign creator will have access to all contributors' name, email, and payment information.  If a perk is selected for the contribution, the campaign creator may also have access to your contact information (address or phone number if provided) to fulfill the perk.

What happens after I contribute to a campaign?

Sending money
When you send money internationally to pay for goods or services, the merchant pays any applicable fees.

When you send money to someone for personal reasons, in most cases a fee applies. The fee is based on the countries and currencies involved, the amount you send, and the payment method you use. You choose who pays the fee - you or the recipient.

  • Working with multiple currencies

You have the option of holding multiple currencies in one account. You can:

  • Open a balance in any of our supported currencies.
  • Make or accept payments in multiple currencies.
  • Convert your balance from one currency to another.
  • Close out your balance in any currency.

Your primary currency – the one you use most for sending and receiving payments – is automatically set to U.S. Dollars, but you're able to change this to any currency we support. Your primary currency also defines your sending and withdrawal limits.

When you buy something that's for sale in a currency you hold, we'll take money from that currency balance first. If there's not enough money in that currency, we'll use your primary currency balance and apply our exchange rate.

PayPal will always provide information on transactions that include a currency conversion. The currency conversion rate will be displayed each time you:

  • Send a payment in a non-local currency.
  • Accept and automatically convert a payment to your primary currency.
  • Withdraw funds in a non-local currency to your local bank account.
  • Transfer funds between currency balances.

You can go to History to review the currency conversion calculations from previous transactions.

There is no currency conversion for transactions where you:

  • Send a payment using a payment method in the same currency.
  • Receive a payment in a currency for which you hold a balance (you do not need to have funds in the currency balance).
  • Withdraw funds in local currency to your local bank account.

To transfer some or all of your PayPal from one currency to another:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account.
  2. Click Profile at the top of the page.

  8. Click Review Exchange to accept the conversion.
  9. Confirm the transfer by clicking Exchange Currency.
